Hi Y’all!
After Mt. St. Helens blew it’s top, I migrated south to Florida. For the past 13 years I’ve been happily married to Larry Knowles and we live near Tampa. I’m retired now after a career in nursing, working in the operating room, hospice and oncology. In the 1990s I returned to school to attain a Masters in Nursing and taught perioperative nursing (operating room: preop, intraop, and postop) until retiring from Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. I must say it was fascinating, challenging, rewarding….and sometimes exhausting! We have joined the grandparent brigade….Both of Larry’s sons are married, and each have brought a little granddaughter into our lives. What fun to watch the little munchkins grow… and rearrange the condiments in the refrigerator door! And if being entertained by grandkids isn’t enough, we have a pair of Pugs to keep us amused. Tug and Lola are like live cartoon characters, complete with comic expressions and antics. Larry hasn’t retired yet, but we still manage to do a fair amount of traveling and checking out this big ol’ world. We’ve been to Europe, Costa Rica and China. A few years ago I researched my ancestry and found lots of Swiss cousins, so we’ve been to Europe to visit and sometimes travel with my Gisler cousins. About five years ago we were certified in diving, which has opened up a whole new world, and have been to various Caribbean islands, Tahiti, and Micronesia (Palau, Truk Lagoon and Yap). We’re wimps—we only dive in warm water.
I appreciate life more each day. We have been blessed. I’m looking forward to connecting with the class of ’69.
